A quick, quarterly update post:
Schwab Market Insights
In my last quarterly update, I shared a quarterly market commentary produced by one of my firm’s investment partners. This quarter I am sharing the Schwab Insights page which is a great resource for advisors and investors alike. Schwab produces market, economic, and personal finance articles and videos almost weekly. This content is easy to read and full of great insights and data. I’ve highlighted two recent ones below:
If the Economy’s So Strong, Why Are Bond Yields Falling?
I suggest checking out the entire page for a wealth of other information and updates.
WMS Updates
I’ll be heading up to our Maryland office in a few weeks to meet with current and prospective clients. While most of our meetings are now virtual, we still enjoy getting together for in-person meetings. While I don’t have many other firm related updates to share in this post, we are working on a few big items that I hope will be able to share next quarter. I did however want to highlight a few topics that I’ve been discussing and advising clients on over the last several months:
- Buying and selling houses – financial decisions on both the purchase and sell
- Retirement Planning and Projections –for both current and soon to be retired couples
- New Clients – helping extended family members set up accounts and start investing.
- Insurance reviews for existing clients
- Trust and estate strategies for several long time clients
- Conducting quarterly portfolio review meetings and calls
- Charitable giving discussions
- Updates from our small business owner clients
- Questions on inflation, investment opportunities, and bond yields.
- General catch-up calls with clients
Personal Updates
Gaines turned two last month (a few pictures below) and recently started attending the full-day weekday school at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, which is where we attend church. Cameron and I were excited to get him in school to learn and have interaction with his classmates. However, it was bittersweet to leave our nanny, Tresia, who had been with us since Gaines was 6 months old.
We do have some traveling planned to close out the summer. We are heading to Charleston for my grandmother’s 101st birthday(!) later this month, followed by a vacation in Maine, and then to the mountains over Labor Day weekend with Cameron’s family.
All for now, and please reach out if you would like a catch-up call. It’s a top priority of mine to increase my posting in the second half of the year so stay tuned!
